Sr. Accountant

Overview

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will have an integral role in the monthly close process performing key financial analyses, preparing journal entries, researching and resolving accounting issues and completing reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will also make recommendations to implement process and control improvements, and document results and conclusions to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial results. The Senior Accountant is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accounting analyses and journal entries during monthly close process in several areas including accruals, leases, payroll and benefits, and prepaid expenses
  • Manage accounting areas for retail and consumer product goods channels including pre-opening expenses, store closures, repairs and maintenance, and our loyalty program
  • Assist in key aspects of accounting for company-wide insurance policies and self-insurance programs including workersâ compensation, health insurance and general liability
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations for various general ledger accounts
  • Collaborate across departments to oversee and review accounting for various initiatives and programs
  • Assist with external audit including preparation of supporting documentation for quarterly and annual external audit requests
  • Perform special projects as directed by the accounting department
Qualifications
  • Degree in accounting or related field
  • Three plus years of accounting experience preferred in public accounting or a retail/manufacturing company
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
